Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 15, 2026 Last Updated: April 15, 2026

Specter_Sec (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website spectersec.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what rights you have regarding your data. We take privacy seriously — both as a principle and as a professional obligation. Our infrastructure and practices are chosen to minimize data collection and maximize the security of any information you share with us.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

When you submit an inquiry through our contact form, you may provide:

A name (real name is not required)
Email address
Phone number
Alternative contact information (e.g., Signal, Telegram, or other secure messaging handles)
A description of your inquiry or situation
File attachments relevant to your inquiry

All fields except the inquiry description are optional. You control what you share with us, and we encourage you to share only what is necessary for us to understand and respond to your request.

Information Collected Automatically

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to understand general traffic patterns on our Site. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual visitors across sessions or sites. All data collected by Plausible is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

Plausible collects:

  • Page URLs visited
  • Referring website (where you came from)
  • Browser and operating system type (generalized)
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Country of visitor (approximate, derived from IP address — the IP itself is not stored)

For more information, see Plausible’s data policy.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not use Google Analytics or any other tracking-based analytics platform.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
  • We do not use third-party cookies of any kind.
  • We do not build visitor profiles or engage in behavioral tracking.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties

Suggested text: When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

How We Use Your Information

Information you submit through our contact form is used solely to:

  • Review and evaluate your inquiry
  • Communicate with you about your inquiry or a potential engagement
  • Scope and deliver investigative or advisory services if an engagement is established

We do not use your information for marketing purposes. We do not add you to mailing lists. We do not share your information with third-party advertisers.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

We have chosen infrastructure specifically designed for privacy and security:

  • Form submissions are delivered via Proton Mail, an end-to-end encrypted email service based in Switzerland and protected under Swiss privacy law.
  • File attachments you upload through the contact form are stored on Proton Drive, an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service, until they are reviewed and deleted.
  • Files and inquiry records are deleted after they are no longer needed for the purpose for which they were collected, or upon your request.

Our Site is served over HTTPS, ensuring that all data transmitted between your browser and our server is encrypted in transit.

Data Retention

  • Inquiry data (form submissions and attachments) is retained only as long as necessary to evaluate and respond to your inquiry. If no engagement is established, records are deleted.
  • Engagement records, if a client relationship is formed, are retained in accordance with applicable professional and legal obligations under South Carolina law.
  • Analytics data collected by Plausible is aggregated and contains no personally identifiable information. Plausible retains data according to its own data policy.

You may request deletion of your inquiry data at any time by contacting us at intake@spectersec.com.
